The phone rings, she looks down and knows who it is even before she answers it. He's the only “private caller” that ever calls her phone. On the fourth ring she decides to answer: “hello?” as if it were a question.
“hey babe” his voice sounds tired an weary as it always does, but his words bring a smile to her face, odd considering their situation.
“Hey,” she says, “what’s up?”
